A 45-year-old worker died after his head accidentally hit the decorated car of Sri Muthumariamman temple at Narthamalai in the district during the car festival on Monday. The police gave the name of the deceased as K. Manivannan of Thayinipatti village. He was a temple car repair worker. Police sources said the car procession commenced at around 3.15 p.m. Even as the procession was under way, the chain of the car snapped. Manivannan completed the repair work. While getting up, his rear side head hit the temple car and he fell unconscious, said police sources.
