The Khadi and Village Industries Co-operative Society of Holenarsipura taluk in Hassan district, which has been managing the Badanavalu Khadi Centre since 1987, has contended that it has been providing work and wages to women artisans of Badanavalu village for almost four decades now without any interruption.

“For about 40 years now, the society has been continuously providing spinning and weaving work to women artisans of Badanavalu village and has been running the activities efficiently,” said the Society’s secretary H.M. Akshay Kumar, in a statement here on Tuesday.

He has denied statements appearing in the media that the work of the handloom weavers and charkha workers has stopped for the past month. “For the past 40 years, we have been continuously providing work and wages without interruption. If there is any doubt about this, the workers themselves can be asked,” he said.

“Our institution functions with grants from the Khadi and Village Industries Board / Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of Karnataka, and the concerned authorities can also be contacted for verification,” the statement added.
