The Women’s Hockey World Cup qualifier tournament will be held at Gachibowli stadium in Hyderabad from March 8-14.

Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari announced this at a press conference held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium on March 4. Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman K. Shivasena Reddy and managing director Soni Bala Mayadevi were present.

The tournament is being organised by the Fédération Internationale de Hockey. Teams from India, Austria, England, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales, will participate in the qualifier.

All arrangements have been completed for the event. The stadium has been equipped with an international standard astroturf field, along with tight security and accommodation for the players.

The Sports Authority of Telangana coordinated with Hockey India and the international federation for the tournament. Various departments of the State government were also involved in making the arrangements.

According to the organisers, all participating teams have reached Hyderabad and have begun practice sessions at the astroturf facility. Plans have also been made to organise heritage tours and recreational programmes for the international delegates and players during their stay.
