“In today’s society, women are becoming increasingly self-reliant. Women should make use of the opportunities and move forward in life,” said College of Community Science Dean Latha Pujar. She was speaking at an International Women’s Day programme organised by the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement in Dharwad. She said that women themselves are responsible for their own progress and therefore, their decisions must be firm and determined. “Women should not be afraid of family problems. From childhood, the role of a girl changes at different stages of life. The age group between 20 and 40 is a crucial phase for everyone and women should work with enthusiasm during this period,” she said. “Women should possess strong ability and self-confidence and use their skills to move towards success. Women must have mental strength and win the battle of life. Technology can be used for work but one should not become a slave to technology,” she said. “The COVID-19 pandemic taught us many lessons. Instead of depending only on salaried jobs elsewhere, women can progress by starting their own enterprises or by engaging in agriculture,” she said. Hanumanth Joshi, Mohan Thambad, regional head, SVYM, Jayant K.S. also spoke.
