A 55-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Thalavadi Hills on Tuesday night, triggering a road blockade by angry villagers who demanded immediate action from the Forest Department. The deceased was identified as Muthammal, wife of Ramasamy, of Bangala Thotti village under the Germalam forest range of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve.
