Woman murdered by paramour in Yercaud

A woman was found dead in a cottage in Yercaud and her paramour was arrested on Tuesday (January 13, 2026).

The deceased was identified as G. Sala (33), a resident of Eriyur in Dharmapuri district.

On Monday afternoon (January 12, 2026), Sala and Parthiban (35), a resident of Elampillai, had stayed in a cottage at Yercaud. Parthiban left the room in the evening, while Sala did not step out for hours. In order to check on her, the cottage staff opened the room and found Sala dead and alerted the Yercaud police. The police rushed to the spot, inquired and verified the CCTV footage. 

According to the police, Sala had separated from her husband and lived with her son and a daughter. Parthiban was also married and has two children. On Tuesday, the police arrested Parthiban.

Police sources said that Sala befriended Parthiban through social media, developed a relationship over the past four years and Parthiban had helped her financially. On Monday, a quarrel erupted between the couple over a money dispute and he allegedly strangled her to death, the sources added.
