An 88-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment after allegedly being assaulted by her son died late on Monday night. V. Shanta, 88, a resident of Palliyamoola, succumbed to her injuries around midnight at AKG Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment since February 11. According to the police, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on February 11. Shanta was allegedly dragged and thrown into the courtyard of her house by her son who was reportedly in an inebriated state. The Town police had earlier arrested the accused, V. Sajeevan, 58, on charge of attempt to murder. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
