Madurai City Commissioner of Police J. Loganathan has been shifted out by the Election Commission. Within 24 hours, Inspector General of Police Abhishek Dixit from Chennai assumed charge as the police head in Madurai city on Friday. With electioneering having just started to peak in the city and no major complaints on implementation of model code of conduct, the sudden transfer of Mr. Loganathan is attributed to the complaint lodged by the BJP with the Election Commission.
