On a bright morning in Africa, the farm was full of life and cheerful sounds. The rooster flapped its shiny red feathers proudly while standing on the fence. “Cock-a-doodle-doo! Wake up, everyone!” he crowed.

Wishes

Luna, the red hen, stayed close to her chicks and gazed at the glowing sun. “If only I could fly higher and see it up close,” she whispered.

Near the river, Clara the cow grazed among sunflowers and daisies, her bell jingling gently around her neck. “I wish I could stand near that glowing ball of fire,” she said.

On the other side of the river, Ryu the sheep stared at the drifting clouds. “One day, I will touch one,” he smiled.

Pip the pig rolled happily in a muddy puddle with his piglets and wondered, “Where does the rain come from?”

By the pond, a yellow duck with a red feather waddled along with her ducklings. “I wonder what it feels like to touch the blue sky,” she quacked.

At night, Sally the horse stood proudly beside her colt. “I want him to reach for the stars one day,” she said.

In the forest nearby, the wild animals were dreaming too. Rico the rabbit looked at a distant rainbow. “If only I could hop towards it and touch it,” he sighed. The elephant wished to chase a shooting star. The lion longed to see a shining light that never twinkled. The hippopotamus wished to touch the Moon.

Getting ready

One evening, the farm animals gathered near the pond and shared their dreams under the moonlight. Hidden in the bushes, a little elf named Ethen listened.

With a twinkling smile, he stepped forward. “Your dreams can come true,” he said. “Together, we can travel beyond the sky, but first, we must build a spaceship.”

High on a tree near the pond, Rio the parakeet had been listening to them. He flew quickly to the forest to inform his friends — the elephant, the lion, and the hippopotamus — who also dreamed of adventures in space. Guided by Rio, they ran towards the farm and told Ethen that the forest animals were also waiting outside to join the adventure. The elf welcomed them warmly.

The excited animals worked together. The lion rolled logs, the elephant lifted heavy beams, and the hippopotamus mixed clay. Others stitched seats made of wood and leaves, tied ropes, gathered grass, and pushed the wooden parts into place.

With a wave of Ethen’s wand, a silver spaceship glowed brightly under the moon.

Wearing safety gear, they lifted into the sky.

Flying high

“Look! The Earth is getting smaller!” cried the duck, as she gazed at the vast sky stretching endlessly around them. Ethen pointed towards the Milky Way galaxy and the blazing Sun.

“Oh, it is too hot to touch!” said Clara and Luna. “It’s better to admire it from far away.”

As they moved forward, a bright shining light appeared. Leo’s eyes glowed. “That is Venus, the planet you admire,” said Ethen.

As they travelled further, Ethen showed them Mars. The hippopotamus noticed the Moon glowing in the sky. He gently stretched his leg toward the window, as if to touch it and cheered.

Ryu the sheep saw the clouds up close; they felt light and cold. The stars twinkled brightly, as Sally and her colt watched with wide eyes. Pip saw tiny droplets of water, and Rico the rabbit admired the formation of a colourful rainbow.

A shooting star raced past, and the elephant trumpeted with joy. They explored Jupiter, Saturn’s rings, Neptune, and Uranus, the coldest gas planets. Ethen explained the Solar System as they flew around it. Finally, they returned to Earth.

“This blue and green planet is special,” Ethen said. “Here, life blooms.”

All the animals agreed with him. That night, under the twinkling stars, the animals slept peacefully, their hearts full of wonder, knowing their dreams had no limits.
