Photo: X/@rajnathsingh via ANI Photo Amid the evolving conflict in West Asia, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday chaired the second meeting of the Informal Group of Ministers (IGoM) to assess the situation and chart measures to minimise its impact on India. The meeting, held at Kartavya Bhawan-2, reviewed recent developments in the region and deliberated on proactive steps to mitigate potential economic and strategic fallout arising from the ongoing crisis. The high-level meeting was attended by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Power Minister Manohar Lal, Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister J.P. Nadda, Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, and Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who holds multiple portfolios. Highlighting the “uncertain situation”, Mr. Singh stressed the need for round-the-clock monitoring and a calibrated response to deal with any emerging challenges. He emphasised that all necessary steps must be taken to ensure that citizens face minimal disruption due to the conflict. Officials said the IGoM will continue to closely track developments in West Asia and coordinate inter-ministerial efforts to safeguard India’s economic and energy interests.
