The Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, in association with The Hindu will hold a webinar titled “Biotech Education in Personalised Medicine” on February 22 as part of its initiative, “Biotechnology: Role in Industry 5.0 – Sustainable Future Pathways”.

The initiative highlights the transformative role of biotechnology in an Industry 5.0 landscape that emphasises human-centric innovation, sustainability, and technological integration. It aims to explore and understand biotechnology’s expanding impact across healthcare, agriculture, environmental solutions, and research-led innovation, positioning and reframing it as a future-ready and socially-impactful career domain.

As part of this ongoing series, the third webinar will focus on the evolution of biotechnology education in preparing professionals for cutting-edge developments in personalised medicine. The webinar will begin at 11.30 a.m., bringing together experts from various fields, including academia, research, and industry, to discuss emerging trends, skills, and opportunities in these rapidly growing fields.

The session will feature G. Jayaraman, Professor and Dean, School of Bio Sciences & Technology, VIT, Chennai; S. Shridevi, Professor & deputy director, Centre for Neuroinformatics, VIT, Chennai; Meenakshee Sinha, director–Cipla, lead advanced therapies & chief of staff to Global CEO & MD, alumni, VIT; and Parul Ganju, co-founder & CEO of Ahammune Biosciences. The discussion will be moderated by journalist Soma Basu.

The webinar will majorly focus on the emerging role of biotechnology education in advancing personalised medicine, including the skills and competencies required to support precision healthcare and patient-specific treatment approaches.
