Ahead of the elections to the Kerala Assembly, the Congress government in Karnataka is set to provide an additional grant of ₹10 crore for the rehabilitation of families affected by the landslide in Meppadi of Wayanad district.

A provision in this regard has been made in the supplementary estimates of 2025-26 (third and final Instalment), tabled in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday (March 23).

The supplementary estimates of 2025-26 (third and final Instalment) aggregate to ₹14,767.89 crore.

Legal spend

The supplementary estimates have also made provision for the payment of an additional ₹20 lakh as remuneration for the appearances of Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal on behalf of the Karnataka government before the Supreme Court with respect to hearing of Writ Petition No. 210/2024. In another instance, provision has been made to pay an additional ₹40 lakh to Mr. Sibal as remuneration for appearing on behalf of the State government before the Supreme Court in the case of SLP (Civil) No. 8832/2025.

The Supplementary Estimates have also made provision for payment of an additional ₹10 crore for the visit of the Karnataka government’s delegates to Davos-Kloster, Switzerland, for participating in World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2026.

An amount of ₹16.3 crore has been provided to pay the outstanding bills towards the Chief Minister’s convention organised for the beneficiaries of various schemes in Haveri, Vijayanagar, and Hassan.
