Appavu released water from Vadakku Pachchaiyar Dam near Kalakkad in the district for irrigation on Friday. He said the 51.06 million cubic feet water to be released from Vadakku Pachchaiyar Dam for 54 days would benefit 1,276.39 acres of land in 33 villages in Nanguneri taluk. “I appeal to the farmers to use the water being released from the reservoir judiciously so that all the agriculturists can nourish their crops and get desirable yield,” he said. District Collector R. Sukumar, Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi, Ayush Gupta and Nanguneri MLA Ruby R. Manoharan were present.
