The multi layer plastic waste accumulated at Vellingiri Hills in 2025 was collected and turned into an almirah, table and a three seater sofa and now they are placed at the Forest Range Office in Booluvampatti.

C. Prasanth from Recompose Recycling Private Limited told The Hindu multi layer plastic waste such as chocolate covers, biscuit covers and snacks covers weighing around 28 tonnes was collected in 2025 and within a week, the recycled waste was turned into a table, an almirah and a three seater sofa.

Though devotees are being screened at the entry to hillock, plastic waste accumulate at the seven hillocks. The forest officials said that screening of devotees climbing the hills would be intensified this year.
