The government has taken the initiative to eradicate tuberculosis completely in Vizianagaram within 100 days, according to Vizianagaram District Medical and Health Officer S. Jeevana Rani and TB Control wing officer K. Rani. To mark World TB Day, posters related to TB awareness were released at a programme organised in the Collector’s office on Tuesday . During TB tests conducted on 98,735 individuals in the district, as many as 1,989 positive cases were identified. Lack of immunity, cleanliness, neglecting TB symptoms and other reasons were cited for the spread of TB in several villages. The government is currently taking care of the patients and supplying medicines free of cost. The officers said: “Patients suffering from other diseases are also vulnerable for TB.
