Visually impaired people on Sunday (January 04, 2026) performed “Palabhishekam” (milk bath) to the statue of Louis Braille located at the Government Home for the Blind in Tirupati, marking his birth anniversary.

The day was observed under the aegis of BJP’s North Mandal unit led by its [resident Loka Prabhakar Naidu. The inmates participated in the event dedicated to Braille, the French educator who introduced a reading and writing system for those with visual impairment.

BJP former State executive member Gundala Gopinath Reddy said that Braille’s invention liberated the visually impaired people from depending on others and thus made them literate and employed.

The leaders called it an essential requirement to take the message on Louis Braille’s invention to the future generations of society and let them think with their heart for the disabled.
