Visakhapatnam Port Authority has achieved 80 million metric tonnes of cargo handling in just 327 days on February 21 (Saturday) during the financial year 2025 to 2026, marking the fastest-ever attainment of the milestone in the Port’s 92-year history. The Port handled 80,082,108 metric tonnes, surpassing its previous best of 80.11 million metric tonnes achieved in 357 days on March 23, 2025 during the financial year 2024 to 2025, and 80.02 million metric tonnes reached in 362 days on March 27, 2024 during the financial year 2023 to 2024. VPA Chairman M. Angamuthu said the Port has set an ambitious target of 90 million metric tonnes for the current financial year and expressed confidence that the milestone would be achieved.
