The BJP has accused the Congress of trying to win the bypolls with money power.

“The whole Karnataka Cabinet will camp in Bagalkot. They will spend unlimited amounts of money to lure voters. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and others will bring money not in suitcases but in gunny bags,” party State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra said on Monday.

He was addressing the crowd during a road show as his party nominee was filing his nomination papers in Bagalkot.

“Congress leaders are not ashamed of spending money looted from the public on elections. I have seen what they did in the bypolls in Sira and KR Pete. The Ministers are planning to spend the money that has been looted from the Valmiki ST Development Corporation and the funds diverted from the Special Component Plan and Tribal Sub Plan Schemes. I want to appeal to the people not to fall prey to such cheap tactics. The people of the State are upset with the Congress government. It is an anti-poor, anti-Dalit, anti-youth and anti-people government. Don’t be fooled by the speeches of Congress leaders,” he said.
