Anand, who retired as a professor, Department of Studies in Business Administration at University of Mysore’s B. N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), was accorded a warm and emotional farewell at a programme held in Mysuru on Tuesday. Prof. Anand, who served the university for over 36 years at Manasagangotri, held several key positions including heading the College Development Council, International Centre, and various academic committees. He was felicitated in the presence of colleagues, family members, students, and well-wishers, many of whom now occupy prominent positions. Vice-Chancellor N. K. Lokanath described Prof. Anand as a favourite teacher among students and noted that several of his protégés have gone on to hold important roles, including within the university. Highlighting the uniqueness of the occasion, he said the farewell was organised by Prof. Anand’s students themselves. “He is a passionate teacher and a role model for many. With his leadership qualities, I would have liked to see him as Vice-Chancellor, though he never sought the position,” he remarked, urging him to continue contributing to the university even after retirement. Acting finance officer S. J. Manjunath, in his welcome address, recalled his association with Prof. Anand as a teacher, guide, and colleague, and shared his experiences of working under his mentorship at the institute. Senior professor B. Shivaraj also spoke on the occasion, lauding Prof. Anand’s contributions to academia. Registrar M. K. Savita, Registrar (Evaluation) N. Nagaraju, BIMS chairman R. Mahesh, and Prof. Amulya M were among those present.
