The annual ‘Arudrotsavam’ was performed at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Srisailam on a religious note on Saturday (January 03).

The temple conducts ‘arudrotsavam’ every month on the Arudra Nakshatra and as ‘varshika’ Arudrotsavam on Arudra Nakshatram in ‘Dhanur Masam’. As part of the annual ritual, priests performed Lingodbava Kaala Ekadasa Rudrabhisekham, Annabhisekham, Bilvarchana and Pushparchana late Friday night.

On Saturday, after performing early morning rituals, priests brought the processional dieities to the Mukha Mandapam and facilitated ‘Uttara Dwara Darshanam’ of the deities to the devotees. Later, Nandi Vahana Seva and Gramotsavam were performed.

According to temple officials, the processional deities will be taken out through the Mahadwaram for Gramotsavam except on two occasions. On Mukkoti Ekadasi and Siva Mukkoti (Varshika Arudrotsavam), the deities will be brought out through Uttara Dwaram (Shivaji Gopuram) for Gramotsavam.

Mounted on Golden Chariot, Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna swamy gave darshan to the devotees and were taken out for Gramotsavam amid traditional drum beats, kolatam, and folk dances. Temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao, priests and archakas and officials took part in the Gramotsavam.
