A village administrative officer A. Subbiah, 53, in Usilampatti Taluk was reportedly caught redhanded while demanding and accepting ₹5,000 bribe from a man for transfer of name of patta, on Monday. According to Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, M. Muthukumaran of Muthaiyanpatti in Usilampatti taluk had approached the VAO of of Veppanoothu village to transfering the old patta numbers that were in the name of his deceased father to the name of Muthukumaran and his family members.
