Environmental enthusiasts, Prakruthi Prakash and his daughter Blessi from Suddala village in Rajanna Sircilla district, known for their efforts to nurture nature, bagged roles in a biographical film based on the life of veteran green crusader late Daripalli Ramaiah, popularly known as Vanajeevi Ramaiah.

The father-daughter duo carved a niche for themselves in environmental awareness campaigns in the erstwhile composite Karimnagar district.

They are playing short yet powerful roles in the biopic titled ‘Vanajeevi’ to spread a green message, sources said.

The biographical is being made under the banner of Paryavarana Parirakshana Films. The film is being directed by Vemuganti and produced by music director Ballepalli Mohan.

The film chronicles the illustrious life of veteran environmentalist late Daripalli Ramaiah of Reddypalli village in Khammam district, who was honoured with ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2017 for his dedicated efforts in planting and nurturing trees.

His path-breaking contribution to increase tree cover, earned him the title of ‘Tree Man of Telangana’.

The shooting of Vanajeevi is currently underway in Komuravelli village in Siddipet district.

Key scenes featuring Prakash and Blessi, a Class VI student of a State-run Gurukul school, along with actor Brahmaji, who is portraying the title role of Vanajeevi Ramaiah, have already been filmed.

The father-daughter duo’s vigorous sapling plantation drives, inspired by Vanajeevi Ramaiah, in their native district won them much appreciation from nature lovers, government and NGOs. Their green initiatives include dispersing thousands of seed balls in forest areas using drones.

It is a great honour for us to be a part of the biographical film on Vanajeevi, an inspirational figure, aptly called ‘Tree Man of Telangana’, said Mr. Prakash, thanking the film director for giving him and his daughter an opportunity to act in the film.
