An 86-year-old woman died after a load van ran over her while reversing inside the premises of the Vadivudai Amman Temple in Tiruvottiyur on Sunday night. Police identified the victim as E. Kaliya Nayagi, a resident of Thiruvottiyur. She was rushed to a private hospital nearby, where doctors declared her dead at around 1.45 a.m. on Monday. The Tiruvottiyur police registered a case and arrested the driver, Sarath Sai, 22. The body was later sent to Stanley Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
