MOORTHY Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to take sustained action which would eradicate the growth of Prosopis juliflora (karuvelam trees) across the State and save the environment as well as the water bodies from polluting the eco-system. The juliflora, he said, was a demon of the soil and spoilt the entire livelihood of the agrarian sector. “A collective approach by the government by roping in multiple stakeholders would put an end to this,” he told media persons at the HC Bench here on Friday.
