V. O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port Authority has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oriana Power Limited, Uttar Pradesh, on the sidelines of India Energy Week 2026 held from January 27 to January 30 in Goa.

The V. O. C. Port Authority had marked its significant presence at the event, reaffirming its commitment to India’s clean energy transition and sustainable infrastructure development.

According to the press statement from the V. O. C. Port Authority, the MoU focuses on development and deployment of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) pilot project and establishment of green methanol production facility, including associated infrastructure and logistics at or in association with the port. The initiative has been aimed at advancing the port’s carbon neutrality goals and readiness for the green methanol bunkering and export oriented green hydrogen infrastructure.

Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port Authority signed the MoU in the presence of A. Senthil Ganesh, Executive Engineer, VOC Port Authority. Representing the Oriana Power Limited, Omkar Nath, GH2 Business Head and Anirudh Saraswat, co-founder, director and chief business officer were present.

On the third day of the event, Mr. Purohit participated as a panelist in the session titled, “Delivering Viksit Bharat’s vision for energy growth: The critical role of railways and shipping in facilitating India’s future energy supply chain.”

In another significant step towards sustainability and environmental management V. O. C. Port Authority has signed a tripartite MoU with Thoothukudi Corporation and Universal Cleantech Solutions Private Limited for the establishment of a municipal solid waste processing facility at the port. The facility will focus on green methanol production from the municipal waste, thereby supporting the port’s commitment to clean energy and circular economy initiatives.
