As mercury continues to rise across the district, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert. Citizens are warned of high Ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and are strictly advised to avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight during these peak hours to prevent heat-related illnesses and skin damage. The safety advisory issued by the authorities highlights specific high-risk groups who must take extra precautions, including outdoor laborers, construction and road workers, farmers, MGNREGS workers, and street vendors. It also extends to those constantly on the move, such as fishermen, traffic police officers, postal and delivery executives, collection agents, and media professionals. Furthermore, tourists, bike riders, and individuals with pre-existing conditions—including skin or eye diseases, cancer, and weakened immune systems are instructed to be particularly vigilant during this period. Educational institutions have been given specific directives to ensure the well-being of students. Schools must guarantee the availability of clean drinking water and ensure proper ventilation in classrooms and examination halls. The District Collector has instructed schools to avoid holding outdoor assemblies and physical education sessions during the afternoon. Additionally, directions were issued to allow exemptions for students from wearing ties and socks during this period of extreme heat.
