The University Grants Commission (UGC) has listed Bengaluru-based ‘Global Human Peace University’ located in Rajajinagar as a “fake university” and advised students not to take admissions.

In its public notice on February 16, the UGC announced that the university is neither recognised by UGC under Section 2(f) and Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, nor approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and any other statutory body. It informed students that this particular university is awarding degrees in violation of the UGC act.

“Any degree/diploma awarded by this institute so far is not valid for Higher Education/government employment purposes,” UGC stated.

“It is advised for students, parents and the public not to take admission in the above-mentioned self-styled institution. Taking admission in such an institution may jeopardise the career of students,” it said.

The institution claims on its website that it has been “incorporated under the Federal Government of the United States of America and approved by the Secretary of State, Division of Corporations, State of Delaware”. Even the contact address given is located in the U.S. It also says it is “registered with NITI Ayog”.

When The Hindu tried to contact the institution, there was no contact person available. .
