Andhra University in Visakhapatnam has around 500 faculty vacancies. | Photo Credit: File Photo The Andhra Pradesh government’s proposed faculty recruitment drive, following the release of the annual job calendar on Ugadi, which earmarks 1,500 posts for the Higher Education Department across State universities, has gathered pace, with the Vice-Chancellors underlining the urgency of filling long-pending vacancies and improving academic standards. During the State Budget session held in March first week, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh indicated that the government intends to fill vacant teaching positions in universities, with the process likely to be completed within three months after resolving legal hurdles.
