Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani with the Gramin Dak Sewak at the event on Sunday. | Photo Credit: Special arrangement Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani felicitated the 10 top performing Gramin Dak Sewak (GDS),who are postal staff engaged in service in rural parts in the Tamil Nadu Postal circle, at an event held in the city on Sunday. Addressing ‘Gramin Dak Sewak Sammelan’, Mr. Pemmasani lauded the Tamil Nadu postal circle for ranking second in the country in terms of overall revenue and postal staff for connecting government services to the people. He highlighted emerging opportunities arising from the growth of e-commerce and about the technology upgrade in the department through the IT 2.0 platform, which enables end-to-end mail and parcel tracking and UPI-enabled cashless transactions, said a press release. Nearly 60% of the 20,533 GDS are women.
