The Union government released the fifth and final instalment of ₹567.4 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the current financial year, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav has said.

According to an official release on Tuesday, the funds are part of the ₹2,600-crore grant allocated by the 15th Finance Commission for the development of the healthcare sector in the State.

Out of ₹567.40 crore, ₹233.45 crore has been allocated for the construction of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres. An amount of ₹218.11 crore is set aside for strengthening diagnostic infrastructure at PHCs and ₹55.89 crore has been allocated for establishing Health and Wellness Centres in rural areas and ₹52.71 crore for providing the same services in urban areas.

During a meeting on Monday evening, the Minister reviewed funds allocated to the Health Department for the current financial year and the expenditure incurred during the first three quarters from April to December, 2025.

The officials informed the Minister that until Monday, excluding the latest instalment that came later in the evening, ₹2,033 crore was released under the 15th Finance Commission, of which ₹1,896 crore had been expended.

Of the total funds released, ₹1,108 crore (43%) was received during the 19-month tenure of the NDA government, while only 57% was received during the previous government’s tenure, according to the release.

Of the total expenditure of ₹1,896 crore so far, ₹902 crore (48%) was made during the NDA government’s tenure.

The Minister noted that the department identified the lapses that resulted in a delay in securing the total amount of funds allocated to the State under the 15th Finance Commission.

The remaining funds were released on Monday after the Union government was satisfied with the proper utilisation of funds by the NDA government, the Minister said.

Mr. Yadav said that the construction of 1,467 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, 100 PHCs and 7 CHCs had begun. The department also expedited construction works that had been taken up earlier but were delayed, he said.

After Tripura and Tamil Nadu, A.P. is the third State to have fully utilised the funds allocated to the healthcare sector, he added.
