RAJU Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on Sunday (February 08, 2026) said that the Union Budget 2026-27 would benefit all classes of people and help accelerate their overall progress and livelihood. The budget was designed keeping in view many aspects such as ensuring the happiness of middle-class families and positioning India on the global stage, he added. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that health insurance and life insurance premiums have been brought down to zero. “Duties on several goods have been reduced to ensure no financial burden on the public. The railway budget has also been increased by 10 per cent and seven high-speed railway corridors are proposed,” he said. The Union Minister said that ₹10,000 crore has been allocated to the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G). With the enhanced funding for this scheme, the progress of both the nation and the States can be significantly transformed, he said. Earlier, components which were required for mobile phone manufacturing were imported from neighbouring countries, but now with new technologies, we have reached a stage where we can manufacture them here in the country, he stated. Keeping women’s welfare and development in mind, women’s hostels are being established in every district, along with the allocation of various funds to support self-employment, he said. He also stated that the government is providing opportunities for growth in sectors such as fisheries, animal husbandry, coconut, cashew etc. The Union Minister also reminded that tax holidays are being provided for data centres and it would greatly benefit Andhra Pradesh. Steps will be taken to ensure Andhra Pradesh receives a higher share of funds, through the 16th Finance Commission. A.P.
