Unconscious shepherd woman admitted to hospital, dies

A 56-year-old woman, who left home to graze goats on Saturday evening at Konalai in the district was found unconscious and subsequently died at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here in the early hours on Sunday. The police gave the name of the woman as M. Mariya Thangam of Konalai. 

The police said Mariya Thangam left her home around 4.30 p.m. on Saturday to graze goats and did not return home. One of her relatives, who went in search of the woman found her unconscious inside a bush with injuries on the jaw, right knee, and right eyebrow.
