As per the chargesheet, Mohammed Siraj, who worked as a manager at a hotel in Haveri, returned to his house in Malpe a few days after the death of his two-month-old son, Mohammed Saud, on April 6, 2020. On April 11 that year, Ms. Banu brought an unconscious Ayesha out of the bathroom a few minutes after they had entered to use it. The girl was taken to KMC Hospital, Manipal, where she passed away the same day.
