The Bajpe police have arrested two persons for allegedly stealing ornaments worth ₹ 23 lakh and ₹ 1.25 lakh cash from a house in Jokatte on September 23, 2025.

The police gave names of the accused as Abdul Nazar alias Nachi and Mayyaddi Imran, both from Kalavaru village.

The police said one Mohammed Sharief filed a complaint about theft of ₹ 23 lakh worth ornaments and ₹ 1.25 lakh from his house when he had gone to a relative’s house to attend a ‘mehendi’ event. Investigation showed involvement of Nazar in the case. As he had gone abroad, a look out notice was issued against him.

A few days ago, on hearing about his return to Mangaluru, the police issued notice asking him to appear before the investigation officer in connection with the theft case. As he did not appear, the police arrested Nazar on Wednesday. On information given by Nazar, the police arrested Imran, a relative of Sharief, an alleged accomplice of Nazar in the theft, on the same day.

After two days of questioning, the Bajpe police produced the two accused persons before the jurisdictional court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The police said they recovered 222 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹ 27 lakh and ₹ 20,000, and seized a scooter from the accused.
