Two siblings have been arrested on charges of murdering their brother and trying to murder another in the Badvel police limits of Kadapa district. According to police, the murder took place near Sreenivasapuram village in Gopavaram mandal on January 11, and monetary disputes between the brothers were said to be the reason. The deceased has been identified as Mude Chinna alias Channa Gurraiah (42), while the injured one is Mude Pedda Gurraiah, both natives of E. Ramapuram village in Kalasapadu mandal. The main accused, Mude Chinna Guruvaiah alias Teacher Gurraiah, had borrowed approximately ₹20 lakh from his younger brother, Channa Gurraiah, over the past 10 years. Allegedly influenced by their elder brother, Pedda Gurraiah and Channa Gurraiah had been pestering Teacher Gurraiah for immediate repayment of the loan and humiliating him. Irritated by this, Teacher Gurraiah, along with his second brother, Nadipi Gurraiah, who lives in Bengaluru, conspired to eliminate Pedda Gurraiah and Channa Gurraiah. On January 11, they allegedly called Channa Gurraiah and Pedda Gurraiah to a secluded location in Sathya Township on the pretext of settling the loan. After taking away the loan documents, they assaulted Channa Gurraiah with hammers, resulting in his instantaneous death. When Pedda Gurraiah intervened, they attacked him on the back of his head with the same hammers, causing grievous injuries. Believing that both had died, the accused threw the hammers into nearby bushes and fled on a two-wheeler. They reached Renigunta, left the vehicle there, and travelled by train. Coming to know that Chinna Gurraiah had died, but Pedda Gurraiah survived and the police were searching for them, they decided to return to Badvel to seek help from a lawyer. On Friday, both the accused came to Renigunta and were travelling towards Badvel on a two-wheeler when they were arrested at Garudayya Satram. The police seized two iron hammers purportedly used for committing the crimes, two chilli spray bottles and chilli powder, the vehicle used for escape after the offence and three mobile phones.
