Two persons get life in jail for 2017 murder of AIADMK functionary

The XIX Additional Sessions Court, Chennai, on Friday convicted and sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the 2017 murder of an AIADMK functionary in MGR Nagar over a property dispute.

According to the prosecution, Kumar alias Chinnakumar was an AIADMK functionary and was in the real-estate business. He had a dispute with Seenivasan. On June 4, 2017, Chinnakumar was attacked by Seenivasan and his associates, following which he died. The MGR Nagar police registered the case and arrested the accused.

The trial was conducted by Additional Public Prosecutor S. Dhanasekaran. The charges against Seenivasan were abated since he died in a road accident during the trial. At the conclusion of trial, Additional Sessions Judge P. Rajkumar convicted Alaru alias Manikandan and Kamalakannan alias Mathi, while acquitting two others.
