Two individuals were killed in a fatal road accident in the early hours of Tuesday (March 10, 2026) after a speeding lorry rammed into vehicles parked on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway near the Nalgonda X Road flyover.

The accident was reported around 2.30 a.m. when a Mojo Travels bus travelling from Hyderabad to Kakinada and a lorry moving from Kutch in Gujarat towards Rajahmundry reportedly brushed against each other while attempting to overtake. Both vehicles then stopped along the side of the flyover as their drivers stepped out to discuss the matter.

Shortly afterwards, another Mojo Travels bus travelling on the same route arrived at the spot. Its drivers, identified as Srinivas and Bangarayya, also stepped down and joined the discussion between the drivers.

At that moment, a lorry travelling from Hyderabad towards Vijayawada approached at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, crashing into the stationary Gujarat-registered lorry. The impact crushed four persons who were standing between the vehicles.

Srinivas and Bangarayya died on the spot, while Suresh, the cleaner of the first bus, sustained severe injuries.

Upon receiving the information, officials from the Narketpally police rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured person was shifted for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the Nalgonda Government Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

The damaged vehicles were later shifted to the police station and traffic on the flyover was cleared without major disruption.

The accused lorry driver left the vehicle behind and absconded. A case has been booked and efforts are now underway to trace him.
