Police inspect the accident spot near Tiruchendur roundabout in Thoothukudi on Saturday. | Photo Credit: RAJESH N Two persons were killed in a road accident near Tiruchendur roundabout in Thoothukudi on Saturday. Police said the deceased were identified as S. Kalaiselvam, 21, of Ottanatham and R. Muthumari, 23, of Thoothukudi. Both were travelling on a two wheeler towards the harbour, when they were hit by a truck carrying fertilizer coming from the opposite direction . In the impact, both of them died at the spot and the driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Upon receiving information, Thermal Nagar police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post mortem examination at Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital. A case has been registered at Thermal Nagar police station and further investigations are on.
