The Adugodi police have arrested two persons, including a man who claimed to be a Bhajan keertan singer from Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly peddling heroin in the city.

The arrested accused have been identified as Baljit Singh, from Uttar Pradesh, and Arjun Joshi, a native of Nepal. The police said Arjun was working as a delivery agent and had allegedly taken to drug peddling. According to investigators, Arjun initially consumed drugs and later began selling heroin. He allegedly sourced the contraband from Baljit Singh, who sourced the drugs from Punjab and sold it to customers in the city.

During the interrogation, Baljit claimed to be a bhajan singer in his hometown and was allegedly involved in drug peddling as a part-time activity. The police have seized 162 grams of heroin worth ₹55 lakh and three mobile phones from the accused.

A case has been registered at the Adugodi Police Station, and further investigation is under way to trace the wider network involved in the supply chain, police said.
