Two drug peddlers were arrested in a joint operation by Kollur police and Serilingampally Special Operations Team (SOT), leading to the seizure of 101.711 kilograms of ganja valued at ₹25.72 lakh.

The accused were identified as Baswa Jaganatham, 37, a farmer from Vijayanagaram district, and Pallapu Laxminarayana, 52, from Puttaparthi district, both in Andhra Pradesh. Police also seized four mobile phones from their possession. Another accused, identified as Raju of Chitrakonda, Odisha, currently remains at large and is believed to be the main supplier.

Investigations revealed that the accused targeted construction labourers who were addicted to ganja. The supplier delivered the consignment about 10 days ago, after which the peddlers shifted it to Tellapur village near labour camps with the intention of selling it at construction sites.

Following a tip-off, the team arrested the duo before the contraband could be distributed.

Meanwhile, police urged people to share information related to drug trafficking through Dial 100, the Cyberabad NDPS Enforcement Cell, or the official WhatsApp helpline, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential. Further investigation is under way.
