Two children were killed and seven others injured in a massive cylinder blast in a house in Navalur on Sunday, leading to the collapse of the building where three families were residing. On Sunday morning at around 7.30 a.m., a person identified as Vairamuthu lit the stove. Due to a gas leak, the four commercial cylinders he had kept in the kitchen exploded. In the explosion, the building collapsed, and the ensuing fire caused the windows, doors, and side walls, to be blown apart.
