The Nagaroor police have arrested two persons in connection with the electrocution of a man and his son near a tapioca plantation. The electric fence was found to be installed illegally around the field by the accused persons, Venugopal Potti and Gopalan, who own the plantation land. The duo have been accused of installing the unauthorised electric fencing that led to the fatalities. The deceased, Kochunnu and his son Akhil of Chenkikkunnu, were found dead near the plantation on Tuesday. They were found to have died after being electrocuted. However, the wire trap, allegedly installed to ward off crop-raiding animals including wild boars, was found to have been disconnected from the power supply by the time the police team had arrived on the scene. Officials of the Kerala State Electricity Board and the Electrical Inspectorate too have instituted probes in the incident.
