NEW DELHI

The Delhi police on Thursday arrested two members linked to Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans at two locations in Delhi before the Republic Day.

The duo, Baljinder, an ambulance driver and his associate Rohit alias Kirat, were arrested by the Delhi Police’s Rohini district team following pro-Khalistan slogans written on the walls. Following the arrest, the Delhi Police Special Cell lodged a case under Sections related to defacement.

“A close associate of Sikhs for Justice founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had hired the two accused to carry out the act,” said a senior officer. According to the officer, the entire plan was hatched in Canada, and Mr. Pannun had offered ₹2 lakh for this task to the two accused. He also added that Mr. Baljinder had gone to Canada a few days before January 26, where he was in direct contact with Mr. Pannum.

Prior to this, the Special Cell had registered an FIR against Pannum after he allegedly threatened unrest in the Capital ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
