Two persons were arrested for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated food items following raids at two locations in Subhan Colony and Laxmiguda on Monday (March 16). The seized items were estimated to be worth around ₹1.1 lakh.

The accused were identified as Abdul Haque, 54, a resident of Subhan Colony and owner of Lucky Foods Company, and Mohammed Qameruddin, 70, a resident of Brundavan Colony in Laxmiguda and owner of M/s Zee Foods.

According to the police, the raids were carried out after receiving information that adulterated food products were being prepared using harmful ingredients and supplied to local shops. During the searches, officials found that spoiled food items were allegedly being processed and packed in unhygienic conditions. The accused were suspected to be mixing chemical substances while preparing the products and distributing them to shops in Hyderabad.

Police seized several items from the locations including expired vanilla flavour powder, 10 kg of sodium benzoate, small boxes containing raspberry red and lemon yellow colouring agents, 98 boxes of motichoor laddu and about 35 kg of loose laddu material.
