This comes a day after Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the state government was considering a brief winter vacation. A government notification issued on Monday (January 5) said all government, aided and private schools shall remain closed from January 6 to 10 in view of extreme winter weather. The schools will open for classes from January 12 since January 11 is a Sunday. The decision will also be applicable to schools in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), which has already enforced a closure of all educational institutions within its jurisdiction due to cold. Normal life and business have been affected owing to a cold wave. The annual Agartala Book Fair, which is being held at the international exhibition ground, is failing to draw crowds. Winter garment traders, however, have plenty of customers.
