PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A Kentucky school district has taken a step toward making its campus safer through AI technology.
According to a release, Trigg County Schools in Cadiz has deployed an AI-based gun detection video analytics platform.
“At TCPS, our mission is to create a safe and secure environment where students and staff can thrive,” said Rex Booth, superintendent of Trigg County Public Schools. “Safety is our top priority, and the deployment of ZeroEyes on our campus reflects our commitment to being proactive rather than reactive, ensuring a positive and focused learning experience for everyone.”
The technology company states the software adds onto the district’s existing digital security cameras, and if a gun is identified, images are instantly shared with an operations center.
If the threat is determined to be valid, alerts will be dispatched, along with a visual description, gun type and last known location to first responders and school staff as quickly as three to five seconds from detection, according to the release.
The creator’s operation center will be staffed 24/7 by military and law enforcement veterans, the release says.
The district includes a primary school, intermediate school, middle school, high school and a career and technical center.
