Treat alcohol addiction as a disease, says senior police officer

Emphasising the need to support families affected by alcoholism, Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation and Director-General of Police Arun Chakravarthy has said that alcohol addiction should be treated as a disease rather than a social stigma.

Addressing a press conference at the Police Commissioner’s office in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, he said that alcoholism not only harms an individual’s health but also disrupts peace and stability of entire families.
