A training programme on innovative solid waste management practices was conducted on February 14, 2026 at the Ripon Buildings complex, for cleanliness management committee coordinators from the 211 Corporation schools functioning all 15 zones of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC). The session covered segregation of biodegradable, non-biodegradable and other categories of waste, maintenance of campus cleanliness, toilet hygiene, and the functioning of school-level cleanliness management committees. Coordinators were instructed to organise awareness programmes for students on the third Wednesday of every month and to conduct weekly sessions on solid waste management during the last period on Wednesdays.
