A group of trainee IAS officers from the 2025 batch visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on Monday (February 09, 2026) as part of their nationwide training programme. The visit, organised as part of their ‘Winter Study Tour’, aimed to provide the future administrators with a practical understanding of large-scale maritime operations and national logistics. The Port officials provided a briefing on the port’s current capabilities, transition toward complete mechanisation, and modernisation. The officers were also briefed on the 10 MW Solar Power Plant and the port’s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), which recycles water for industrial use, according to a release here.
