HYDERABAD Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud called upon party cadre to work with commitment to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots while addressing the swearing-in ceremony of newly-appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) executive members in Bhuvanagiri on Sunday. The programme was organised under the chairmanship of DCC president and MLA Beerla Ilayya. Mr. Mahesh Kumar administered the oath to the new executive members and urged them to take the lead in resolving public issues and expanding the party’s base. He said that the Congress remains a party rooted in people’s aspirations and stands for equality beyond caste and religion. Highlighting the performance of the present Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he said that over 65,000 jobs had been provided so far despite financial constraints, and welfare schemes were being implemented effectively. He termed the recently announced Indiramma Family Life insurance scheme as a historic initiative. Mr. Mahesh said the party would intensify efforts to take government welfare and development programmes to every household and emphasised that dedicated workers would be duly recognised. Criticising the BJP, he questioned its role in the freedom struggle and accused it of attempting to appropriate leaders such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He also deplored what he described as “fanatic attacks” on the Gandhi family, including Rahul Gandhi. Targeting the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr. Goud alleged that the State was pushed into heavy debt during its decade-long rule and that large-scale irregularities had taken place. He claimed that employment opportunities were limited to a few during that period. He is scheduled to visit Medak on Wednesday and continue district-level reviews across the State. Meetings with party leaders and cadre would be held to assess local issues, strengthen organisational structure from village to district level, and prepare an action plan for future elections.
